Responsibilities

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Physical Therapist Workers’ Compensation (WC) Coordinator to join our Team. This role combines direct patient care with coordination and case management responsibilities, focusing on patients with work-related injuries. The WC Coordinator will serve as the central point of contact between patients, providers, case managers, employers, and insurance representatives to ensure efficient, effective, and high-quality rehabilitation services.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Provide skilled physical therapy evaluation and treatment for patients with work-related injuries.

  • Develop individualized care plans that emphasize safe return-to-work, functional restoration, and injury prevention.

  • Document all care in compliance with clinical, legal, and workers’ compensation requirements.

Coordination & Case Management

  • Act as liaison between patients, physicians, case managers, employers, and insurance carriers.

  • Ensure timely communication of patient progress, restrictions, and discharge planning.

  • Coordinate scheduling of therapy, functional capacity evaluations (FCEs), work conditioning/work hardening programs, and follow-up appointments.

  • Monitor case timelines and ensure adherence to treatment authorizations.

Administrative & Compliance

  • Track and manage workers’ compensation cases, including authorizations, progress reports, and outcome measures.

  • Maintain accurate documentation to support medical necessity, billing, and compliance with state/federal WC guidelines.

  • Assist with reporting outcomes and providing data for employer and insurer partners.

Education & Advocacy

  • Educate patients on injury prevention, ergonomics, and safe work practices.

  • Support employers with return-to-work programs and modified duty recommendations.

  • Collaborate with internal staff to improve processes for WC case management and patient experience.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate or Masters in Physical Therapy
  • Valid Physical Therapy License
  • Prior experience with workers’ compensation cases strongly preferred.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple cases and stakeholders efficiently.

  • Knowledge of WC regulations, documentation requirements, and insurance processes a plus.
