Overview

Team Rehab is a network of therapist-owned outpatient physical therapy clinics in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Georgia.

Our mission is to provide the best outpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. We want our patients to enjoy therapy and experience clear improvements in their health. Our clinics receive the highest levels of patient satisfaction and our patients receive the best objectively measurable outcomes. Our strategy, based on excellent quality and patient satisfaction, is gaining momentum. Since opening our first clinic in 2001, we have grown across Michigan and into Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Georgia. We continue to open additional clinics in order to make physical, occupational and speech therapy even more accessible to our patients, their friends and their families.

The Common Standards all Team Rehabilitation Employees are held to include:

  • Never say anything disrespectful about any group, whether they are formally protected by law or not.
  • Never use language that another member of staff or patient finds offensive.
  • No pictures, signs or the like that a patient or another member of staff finds offensive.
  • No discrimination in hiring, training or promotion based on race, religion, national origins, weight, family status, sexual orientation, etc.  None. Never. Ever.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  1. General

Mentors must be successful clinic directors at Team Rehab.  They will retain responsibility for their own clinic while advising the clinic directors of the clinics they mentor.

Their responsibilities as mentors fall into two main groups.  First, helping clinic directors improve their operations.  Secondly, helping the clinic directors with planning and strategy.

Clinic directors do not work for the mentor.  Meetings between the Mentor and CD should be regarded as meetings between the minority owner of the business (CD) and the proxy for the majority owner (Mentor).  The Mentor is the senior partner, but they are partners.  Mentors may not order a CD to do anything.  They are permitted to veto a hire.

Mentor and CD must agree on the clinic directors’ objectives and bonus each year.  Mentors review CD performance annually and determine their bonuses and raises.

Mentoring may take place in any state Team Rehab has clinics in and may require travel outside of the mentors home state.

  1. Operations

Mentors should advise clinic directors on:
    • Improving quality and patient satisfaction
    • Increasing referrals and visits per referral
    • Increasing units per visit
    • Keeping schedules full and keeping the staff flexible
    • Avoiding the CD wasting time on anything other than
      1. Happy Patients
      2. Referral Relations
  • Full Schedules
  1. Long Visits
  2. Reasonable Productivity

  1. Planning and Strategy

Mentors advise the clinic directors on:
    • Budgeting
    • Hiring
    • Raises
    • Relocation, expansion or contraction
    • Other important and unusual management decisions or major expenses

The Mentor is responsible for ensuring that every clinic they mentor has improvement plan at all times.  The key points of this plan will normally be in the CD’s review and the objectives the Mentor and CD agree each year.  Key issues will be discussed and minuted in the agenda or the monthly 1:1 CD/Mentor meetings.
